Payday Super is coming...

This huge change will impact how you run your business and manage cashflow.

Payday Super becomes a payday obligation, not a quarterly obligation.

____________
What is payday Super?

Payday super means you will need to pay employees super guarantee contributions at the same time as wages are processed, rather than quarterly.

This could significantly increase the number of times super is paid, in a year, when paid with each pay cycle. A big shift business owners need to be aware of and prepare for.

_________

What do I need to do?

This must be implemented by 1 July 2026.

Super must be paid on or before payday.

Payments must be received into the employee’s super fund within 7 business days of payday.

Late payments may trigger SGC statements (Super Guarantee Charge Statements).

The Small Business Clearing House is closing on June 30 2026, so you must transition to another system.

___________

What does this mean for my business?

Cashflow discipline will matter more, and payment timing will change.

Super will be paid when payroll is processed (you need to ensure you have the money available each pay cycle).

_____

How to prepare

Review your cash flow, can it handle more frequent super payments?

Clean up employee data and check onboarding processes.

Find an alternative to the Super Clearing House to process payments.

Test the system prior to 1 July 2026.

Don’t forget to communicate changes to employees and managers. Have the conversations and keep everyone informed as we all navigate this big change!
